Visiting Eagle

This morning I met up with a new friend at Rembrandt's Coffee House in Eagle. We are planning a mutual friend's baby shower. I always enjoy a new friendship.....  This coffee house used to be a church near downtown Eagle. I even remember when it was as I used to go to elementary school less than a mile away. Our bus drive by that church every morning and every afternoon. They sure did a great job fixing it up. Not only did I enjoy a great cup of coffee in a great atmosphere but I ran into two of my closest high school friends. I love small worlds!!  

Since I was only a mile or so away from my elementary school that I went to for K-3 before moving to Meridian, I decided it was worth a stop. It is amazing how these schools never change. 

The strongest memory I have of Eagle Hills Elementary is a negative one, of course. When I was in First Grade, I decided that I was going to jump-rope my way out to recess. My jump-rope decided to get stuck underneath a LARGE piece of concrete that apparently I believed I could conquer.... little did I know.... next thing I knew, my face said hello to the ground. One stitch to my lip later, I was all good! My parents weren't too happy though. We had family pictures that same afternoon with my grandparents. We were unable to reschedule since, at that time, my grandparents lived in Alaska and were leaving the next day. We learned that Olan Mills can sure do some editing!!!! Ok so you can still tell every time you stare closely at my face in those pictures, but that's ok, it makes for  great story now! I even have the scar to prove it!

Change.... Again

I know we have lived in our house for only 6 months, but for some reason I felt a change was to be made. I was tired of nearing hitting my face on our "hutch" in the entrance way. The top part is right at my eye level and when I get up at 5am for those early morning workouts, I nearly give myself a black eye!! Today was the day for a change.  Here is a reminder of where it was:

I decided the best place {for now} is in the kitchen!!! So instead of being outside this afternoon during the nice weather, Scottie and I moved furniture around. Here is the after:

Driving Range

Since it was a nice day out and we both were off work fairly early, we decided to go to Scottie's work so he could practice on the driving range. You may think I am crazy for coming along, but the reality is, I enjoy it just as much as him. Not only do I get a little vitamin D but I get to take a few pictures. I am not sure why but I thought these pictures look amazing in sepia....

Baby Shower {Invitations}

Time is flying by fast and soon we will be sharing in the joy of baby Jackson. This means it was time to send out those shower invitations. Lucky for me, I had some help. Mom-to-be and myself found this very cute scrapbook paper at my favorite store, Hobby Lobby. I then did some playing around on the computer and came up with the invitation layout. What makes it better is Mom-to-be loved them! Here was my practice invitation.

The night of making invitations was sure a long crazy one. The plan was for me to bring my laptop {with the saved design} and printer to the co-host's house. We were going to print off all the invitations {all 85 of them... yes that's right 85} at her house and then put them together. It was going to be an easy night. To start it off with a bang, I was nearly to the Mom-to-be's house {which is about 25 miles from mine} and realized I forgot my printer. I had the cord of course, but just forgot the printer. But it was ok, we decided we would just print them off somewhere else. So once we get there to print them off, we realized I couldn't hook up my computer to that printer. This meant we had to use a junk drive to put the file onto the other computer. Well of course I had used fonts that were only on my computer. We quickly chose new ones we liked and then started printing. Well it took about 4 times to line it up correctly as the printer just didn't take the paper in right. Eventually we were on our way to printing. Slowly one invitation by one invitation they came. We decided after getting about half of them done that we were going to go to the co-hosts house and finish printing them off her computer. But of course that couldn't be smooth printing either. We had to trick the printer to think the pages were larger than they were as it didn't want to take the smaller pages. Eventually after HOURS of printing, we had them done. Then it was time to put them together. 

We had a great system down and finished the process very quickly afterwards. Well, as quickly as you can make 85 invitations.

The Dad-to-be even came over and helped us out. I cannot wait to see how adorable their little guy is!!!

We are basketball....

A surprise came in the mail today. And of course, we love it!! Thanks to Scottie's grandparents, we are able to add to our basketball collection. It is an ottoman. Now we just need to find the perfect place for it. {I had to get a picture of Scottie with it just to see how excited he really is!}

Golden Star

Scottie and I enjoyed some unbelievable Chinese food for dinner. We went to my favorite place, Golden Star. It even looks the same now as it did decades ago when I went with my family. So identical, in fact, that when I sent a picture to my dad, he knew right away where we were! {These pictures were taken with my cell phone and not our camera so I apologize for the bad lighting}

Senior Pics {take 2}

As you know, my sister has asked me to take her senior pictures {yay!}. We were able to get some done in the early fall but she wanted some taken with my Dad's '66 Ford Truck.  The first warm day we had, we rolled out the truck {it is not up and running yet, my Dad is still fixing it up} and took some amazing pictures!
